The origins of in Fukuoka, Japan, lie in the establishment of Fukuoka Medical College in 1903, affiliated with Kyoto Imperial University. In 1911, Kyushu Imperial University was founded. After World War II the university changed its name to Kyushu University in 1947.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Kyushu University )〕 The University is composed of six campuses: Chikushi, Hospital, Ito, Ohashi, Hakozaki, and Beppu.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Visual Kyushu University )〕 There are numerous historic buildings dating from the many phases of history the university has seen. This article is composed mainly of a list of buildings, monuments, gardens, ponds, etc. The Third Residential Complex on campus is has a western design and is reserved for foreign students. The complex dates back to 1924 and has been designated a Municipal Cultural Property. ==Maidashi Campus== The Maidashi campus is the oldest campus with many historic structures. It is located in Maidashi, once a quarter in the outskirts of Fukuoka-City, nowadays part of the Eastern district.
